Every Drop Counts: A Community United to Save Lives
By RehabNation Healthcare Foundation of India (RHFI)
"A single act of kindness can save a life. A community united in kindness can transform countless lives."
On 18 June 2026, National Service Scheme and University Health Centre at the University of Kashmir, Hazratbal Campus, became a beacon of hope as students, faculty members, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and community members came together for a common humanitarian purpose—to save lives through voluntary blood donation.

The Voluntary Blood Donation Camp, jointly organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) and UNiversity Health Centre, University of Kashmir, in collaboration with RehabNation Healthcare Foundation of India (RHFI) and Government LD Hospital, Srinagar, demonstrated the extraordinary impact that can be achieved when educational institutions, healthcare organizations, volunteers, and civil society unite in the service of humanity.
Building a Culture of Giving
Blood remains one of the most critical resources in healthcare, yet it cannot be manufactured. Every unit collected has the potential to save multiple lives, supporting patients undergoing surgeries, trauma care, cancer treatment, childbirth complications, and emergency medical interventions.

Recognizing this urgent need, the camp was organized not only to collect blood but also to cultivate a culture of regular voluntary blood donation and inspire young people to embrace humanitarian service as a lifelong responsibility.
Weeks of planning, awareness campaigns, volunteer mobilization, and institutional collaboration ensured that the event was conducted safely, professionally, and efficiently. Volunteers played a central role in donor registration, participant assistance, awareness dissemination, and event coordination, reflecting the power of youth-led community engagement.
A Remarkable Community Response
The response from the University community was inspiring.
More than 100 voluntary donors came forward to participate in the camp. Following comprehensive medical screening and eligibility assessments conducted by the medical team from Government LD Hospital, 82 units of blood were successfully collected.
Each unit represents far more than a medical resource—it represents hope for patients, reassurance for families, and a powerful reminder that compassion has the ability to save lives.
The enthusiastic participation of students, research scholars, faculty members, university staff, volunteers, and healthcare professionals reflected a shared commitment to community service and humanitarian values.
Leadership that Inspires
The initiative received wholehearted encouragement from the leadership of the University of Kashmir.
In her message, Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir, appreciated the organizers for conducting the programme and underscored the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving precious lives. She commended the donors for their selfless contribution and urged the University community to actively support initiatives aimed at serving society and strengthening healthcare systems.
During his visit to the camp, Prof. Naseer Iqbal, Registrar, University of Kashmir, highlighted voluntary blood donation as one of the highest forms of community service. He emphasized that educational institutions play a vital role in fostering social responsibility among young people by encouraging them to contribute meaningfully towards societal well-being.

These messages reinforced a shared vision that universities are not only centres of academic excellence but also institutions that nurture compassion, civic responsibility, and humanitarian leadership.
The Power of Partnership
The success of the camp was built upon strong collaboration.
The medical team from Government LD Hospital supervised donor counselling, medical screening, blood collection, post-donation observation, and strict adherence to clinical safety protocols, ensuring that every donation was carried out safely and efficiently.

The programme also received valuable support from ScrapMe, London Berry, Koshur Kalaam, and Noor Aura, whose contributions reflected the importance of partnerships between educational institutions, healthcare organizations, businesses, and civil society in advancing humanitarian causes.
At RehabNation, we believe that sustainable impact is created through collaboration. This initiative stands as a testament to what can be achieved when institutions unite with a shared purpose.
Beyond a Single Day
Although the camp concluded with the successful collection of 82 units of blood, its impact extends far beyond a single day.
The initiative strengthened awareness about voluntary blood donation, inspired greater youth participation in humanitarian service, reinforced partnerships among healthcare and educational institutions, and encouraged a culture of compassion and community engagement.
For RehabNation Healthcare Foundation of India, this event represents another important milestone in our mission to improve community health, strengthen rehabilitation services, promote volunteerism, and foster inclusive and resilient communities.
Looking Ahead
The Voluntary Blood Donation Camp marks the beginning of a broader journey.
Together with our partners, RehabNation remains committed to expanding initiatives in preventive healthcare, blood donation awareness, first aid and emergency response, disability inclusion, rehabilitation, mental health promotion, and youth leadership.
Every donor who extended an arm, every volunteer who dedicated their time, every healthcare professional who ensured safety, and every institution that supported this initiative contributed to something much greater than an event.
They contributed to a movement of hope.
Because when compassion becomes action, communities become stronger.
Because when people come together to serve others, lives are changed.
And because every drop truly counts.
